The region around Châtel-Saint-Denis, located in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland, is a key area within the traditional production zone for Gruyère cheese. This picturesque region is characterized by its rolling hills, lush pastures, and a temperate climate that is ideal for dairy farming. 

The area's rich biodiversity and fertile soils contribute to the high quality of the milk used in Gruyère production. Up to 20 different milk producers, are delivering this dairy. The cows graze on diverse grasses and herbs, which impart unique flavours to the milk, crucial for the cheese's distinct taste. The altitude and geography of the region, with its mix of valleys and elevated terrains, help in maintaining a balanced moisture level in the pastures, enhancing the quality of the forage.
